Kids for Kids

Today is the day of the kids for kids concert we have to be there at the TSB theatre In New Plymouth I have to sing 18 songs with Suzanne prentice on the night. We practiced lots and lots for the big thing, while we had the rest the other kids that tried out for Edelweiss, then we came back on stage, got into our places and started singing again. Then the man that was running things gave a little speech and told us to return at seven o’clock.

We came back at seven o’clock and sang eighteen songs. Matilda the gorilla was the best. It was great to be a part to such a big thing.

Te Wera Camp

Today is the first ay of Te Wera camp on Monday. The older kids are going to have a river study with this guy from the Taranaki district council. So we walked over the road on a track for a while and we began to get stuff in our tray and in our sive then we take them up the bank totrnsfer them into the tray. That’s where we get to identify all of the little creatures that are so cool. I got my shoes all dirty and muddy plus I had wet socks. Then we finished, but we had to go around and have a look at all the other trays before we could go back to camp.

Back at the lodge it was time to have lunch for about ten minutes then we played a game called predator it was alright I was the best one of all I was the rabies’ I could not die so me and Dillon ganged up and got just about everyone.

Next up for us was archery I got to bull’s-eyes Koren got one aswell along with Nina. We only had one arrow though so it was very slow. My partner was Brendon he was alright but he kept on pushing the arrow not letting it go but he could not get the hang of it Next up for us was team building that was alright I did not enjoy it as much as archery though we had to put the tyre over this pole the other team did it but not us We had the trickey job that was getting it back over again in the end Chris had to do it me missed it but the second time he got it Next was the platform that swayed it was easy the first time once a person had got onto it then it was just a matter of getting onto it yourself then it was easy. We had the wall to do next we got everybody over with a little bit of help from Chris he helped us up and then we all got up that was good. But by the time we finished it was time to go home it was wonderful weather for it I just hope that it was this weather for tomorrow. It was the last day of camp we had to do all of this walking over to this camp site that bushman Bob put up for us 10 years ago and we split into groups of three to make these huts we had a piece of plastic some string a lot of wood and a swamp that was our area. At the end of it we had a marking out of 10 we got 7 the others got 6 and the winner was the team with the highest score got 8 I think I’m not sure but they won. Next we had lunch on the track I played tag with Shane and everybody else. Then we had the big hill that we had to walk up that was enough in itself but we still had to make sneers and learn navigation then was the long walk back Brendon and I were making all kinds of jokes and stuff. When we got back to camp bushman Bob

Rotorua Camp

On Sunday, we started to pack our clothes for camp. It took us a long time because we had lots of things to pack. The night before camp, we were excited because we were going to have lots of fun. I couldn’t sleep because it was so hot inside. In the morning we put our bags in the car, and we went to school. It took 20 minutes from my house to school. At school we put our bags in the trailer and we had two vans called Tracey and Troy. We drove to Taumarunui and we stopped for lunch in a park. In the park there was a playground, it was for little kids. Some people in my van felt sick so we had to make lots of stops. We kept driving to another small town and I saw a big dam. The dam was cool. We got to camp at about 3:30 and settled in, made our beds, unpacked our stuff and got ready for tea. Before tea we played some gridiron. My cabin was meant for one adult and three children. Pat was our adult. For tea we had spaghetti bolognaise. It had onion, spaghetti, sauce and mince. I didn’t like it much. At bed time we got into bed and had a talk for about half an hour and then went to sleep.

Tuesday

So this is Tuesday. We went to the buried village. We saw houses buried in lava and ash. The water fall was cool and high. The stairs was so steep by the waterfall. It was raining outside and we went to the café and I bought a rugby ball. I bought a soft rugby ball and Justin got a hard ball. We had morning tea in the cafe. We didn’t buy anything; we got food from our lunchbox. Next thing we started to go to camp so we could go to the leisure world Hydroslides. The leisure world Hydroslides are really fun and we went to the fastest slide. It was black and you couldn’t see where you were going. There were steep bits and sharp corners and on one I flipped over and hit my head. We stayed there for a couple of hours and when we were all tired from swimming we went to pizza hut for tea. We had to choose between so many pizzas. After the pizza, we had ice-cream and it was really cold and it was yummy ice-cream. I got a sore head when I ate ice-cream at pizza hut. After the pizza hut we went back on the van and we went back to camp. At camp we went to the dairy to buy chocolate and lollypops. After that we went outside to play. After that we went to bed about eight o’clock and we talked and then we went to sleep.

Wednesday

On Wednesday we woke up about half past six and all ate chocolate. After the chocolate we went down the hill and we had breakfast. After the breakfast we went to Rotorua Museum and it was really cool. We watched the T.V. and it was a really scary movie about the Mt Tarawera eruption and the seat was moving. We looked at the baths and the water was not heated by people. It was boiling water coming from the ground and there was a spa pool and a swimming pool too. After that we went down to the museum and we looked at an underground passage way. There were lots of TVs that you could see and other cool things but you had to wear a helmet in case the roof fell in on you. I saw shorts of a movie and it had an old boiler in it. After that we went up to the top stairs where there was a lovely view and we saw the bowlers playing bowls and people playing croquet. After the museum we had an early lunch at the park and then went to Te Puia. At Te Puia we went to the whare nui and a man who came from Scotland was named Jimmy and he was the chief of the manuhiri. We saw a man do a challenge. We went inside the Marae and we sat down on the floor and watched the dancing and haka. It was very cool and very well done. After that our guide took us to the geysers and the hot pools and then we walked to see the geysers up close. All the pools were so hot that the water had steam coming out everywhere. All the water ran into the river below and under the bridge. We sat on some hot rocks which burnt our bum after ten second. After Te Puia we went to camp to put our togs on quickly and then we went to the hot pools in Waikite and it was boring. After the hot pools we went back to camp to have tea. We had fish and chips, it was nice. I ate some chocolate and went to bed.

Thursday

We woke at six o’clock and we went outside to play gridiron with Justin’s ball against an invisible side. After that we went down the hill to have breakfast. After breakfast, we went to the van and I went on Tracy. We went to the gondolas and 5 minutes later, we up the hill and we saw Mt Tarawa up the high hill. We went outside and we went on the luge ride down the hill. We went on a chair lift to get back up the hill and we went to the luge again and it was really fun. It was boring when we went back up the hill. It took 5 minutes to get back. After the gondola we went back to camp to have lunch.
We had the lunch from our lunchbox and I ate some chocolate cake. It was yummy chocolate cake. After that we put our togs on in our room and walked down to the Blue Lake and went for a swim. There was a boat with a biscuit which two people could fit on. We all had a turn on the biscuit which was fun and some people had a go at skiing. I stood up holding the pole. Some people didn’t have a turn because it was too cold. They went back to camp with Miss Lewis.
That night of camp we went outside to play gridiron with the girls. My team just had three boys. The girl’s team had Kelly, Connie, Roma, Nina, Miss Lewis and Claire. We always got tries every time and some of the girls got tries too. Then we went back to our hut and played twister and after that we went down to have tea. Then we went to bed.

Friday

Today we went home by van and at last we were packing our bags again. After the packing we put our bags on the trailer and then we went straight home. Later on we stopped at Whakamaru to have our lunch. We had some yummy chocolate cake. We played tag with my softball. After playing tag we went back inside the van and we went straight on going back home. It was so very boring. After we had unpacked out of the two trailers we said thank you and went home. But on the way home we played card cricket. We played New Zealand verses West Indies. New Zealand WON! With the leading batsman Brendan Mc Callum.
That was the end of the camp.
